Wann gibt es endlich ein komplettes Album von HOLY HELL, eine berechtigte Frage. Schon im letzten Jahr hieß es, dass im Frühjahr dieses Jahres das Debut veröffentlicht werden sollte. Leider war das nicht der Fall. Gut das die Band auf dem diesjährigen Magic Circle Festival vertreten war und somit konnte ich dann auch noch mal nachfragen. Auch sonst war ich auf einiges, was sich in der Zwischenzeit ereignet hatte ziemlich gespannt. Zusammen mit
Maria Brolin und
Joe Stump hatten wir auch wieder die gleiche Konstellation zu einem Interview wie im letzten Jahr. Es wurde auch wieder genau so lustig. Nun also ein kleiner Vorgeschmack auf das was uns erwartet.
Wie ich im Vorfeld erfuhr ist das Album fertig und wartet nur auf die Veröffentlichung.
Maria: Ja es ist endlich fertig und heute haben wir auch schon 2 Songs aus dem Album gespielt.
Die ich auch richtig toll fand. Aber warum habt ihr so lange mit der Veröffentlichung gewartet?
Maria: Das ist eine gute Frage, aber in der heutigen Zeit muss man auch auf den richtigen Zeitpunkt mit einer Veröffentlichung warten. Es ist immer schwierig einen geeigneten Zeitpunkt zu finden, aber im Sommer ist die Zeit überhaupt nicht gut, weil dann doch sehr viele Leute in Urlaub sind oder sich auf Festivals befinden. Das trifft ebenso auf die Presse zu.
Joe: Genau und deswegen haben wir und das Label beschlossen den Release auf den Herbst zu legen. Es macht schon Sinn, obwohl uns auch lieber gewesen wäre, den Fans nun schon das neue Album präsentieren zu können.
Wie viele Songs befinden sich denn auf dem Album?
Maria: 13 Songs sind auf dem Album vertreten. Darunter sind 3 Stücke von der EP.
Joe: Wir haben auch sehr viel Wert darauf gelegt wirklich das Beste abzuliefern. Das sowohl produktionstechnisch wie auch vom Songwriting her. Mit den neuen Song ist die Band einen großen Schritt nach vorne gelungen, denn die verschiedenen Einflüsse innerhalb der Band in den Songs zu vereinigen ist nicht gerade einfach. Aber wir sind alle mit den neuen Stücken sehr zufrieden und können uns mit den Songs alle identifizieren.
Es bringt eine Band auch näher zusammen und ich denke dass dies der einzig richtige Weg ist um längerfristig zu überleben in der Flut von Veröffentlichungen.
Joe: Das sehen wir auch so. Nachdem uns unser zweiter Gitarrist verließ mussten wir uns wieder auf unsere Basics berufen.
Ihr habt mittlerweile wieder einen neuen Rhythmusgitarristen?
Joe lacht: We have no new one we have no one!

Joe: Genau, aber unser Sound ist nun wieder wesentlich mehr vom Rock beeinflusst. Zudem sind wir viel enger zusammengerückt und das spiegelt sich auch in den Liveauftritten wieder.
Ich wundere mich immer wieder über die Reaktionen die ihr hervorruft, denn ihr habt ja bis zum jetzigen Zeitpunkt nur die Maxi-CD veröffentlicht. Trotz allem ist die Akzeptanz der Fans riesengroß.
Maria: Das ist wirklich toll und wir wissen das auch zu schätzen. Vielleicht liegt das einfach daran, dass wir ziemlich natürlich sind. Wir versuchen bei einem Auftritt immer sofort den Kontakt zu den Leuten zu bekommen. Ich denke das die Leute merken das wir es ehrlich meinen.
Das liegt auch sicher auch an eurer Musik, denn man merkt dass sie aus dem Herzen kommt und sie besitzt Seele.
Joe: Obwohl sich die Musik ein wenig seit der Maxi-CD verändert hat, denn sie besitzt mittlerweile eine gehörige Portion an Powermetal, Rock und wie du schon sagtest Seele. Das ist auch der Weg den wir auf dem Album gegangen sind und man kann die neuen Songs nicht mehr mit denen von der EP vergleichen.
Können wir also ein heavy klingendes Album erwarten?
Joe: Es klingt schon heavy aber trotz allem sind sehr coole Sounds darin vertreten. Dazu ist es sehr vielseitig ausgefallen und ich denke, dass den Fans die Songs gefallen. Vielseitigkeit ist uns sowieso sehr wichtig, denn ich persönlich mag keine Alben die von Anfang bis Ende gleich klingen.
Maria: Dafür sind wir alle auch viel zu unterschiedlich in unseren persönlichen Musikgeschmäckern. Die kommen auf diesem Album auch voll zum Tragen.
Ich bin ja jetzt wirklich gespannt auf euer Album denn es klingt ja richtig viel versprechend was ihr mir so erzählt.
Joe: Ich bin auch sehr froh wenn das Album endlich veröffentlicht wird, denn bis jetzt kann man nur T-Shirts von uns kaufen.
Läuft das bei euch anders herum?
Joe lachend: Wir sind sicher die erste Band die zuerst T-Shirts verkauft und dann erst mit einem Album aufwartet. Wir sind nun mal anders.
Aber diese wurden richtig gut verkauft. Jetzt heißt es abwarten und wenn es dann soweit ist werdet ihr mehr erfahren. Für mehr Infos zu HOLY HELL geht auf:

When will there be a complete album by Holyhell at last? A vital question. Already last year it was told, that their debut will be published in spring this year. Unfortunately it did not happen. What a good luck, that the band was playing at the Magic Circle Festival this year, so I was able to request. And I was also on the rack about a few things that happened in the meantime. With
Maria Breon and
Joe Stump we had the same constellation as at the interview last year. And it was as funny as last year. Well, a little vision for the things that can be expected.
In the run-up I got to know that the new album is finished and it's just waiting for being published.
Maria: Yes. It is finally finished and today we already played 2 songs of it.
They were really great. But why did you wait such a long time for publishing?
Maria: That's a good question. But today you have to wait for the right time for publishing. It is always difficult to find the right time, but the summer-time it is really not a good time, because many people are on vacation or on festivals. It is the same with the press.
Joe: Exactly! And because of that we and the label decided to make the Release in autumn. It makes sense. Although we'd prefer it, to presentate the new album already now to our fans.
How many songs are on the new album?
Maria: There are 13 songs on the album, including 3 songs from the EP.
Joe: We stressed to give the absloute best. The best in the technical production and the best in songwriting. With that new songs the band succeded a big step forward, because it was not easy to combine all the different influences between the band into the songs. But we are all really satisfied with the new songs and we are all able to indentify ouselves with them.
It brings the band more close together and I think so you are on the right track for survive long-term in that masses of publications.
Joe: We do agree. After our second guitarist left us, we had to appeal to our basics.
Did you already find a new one for rhythm guitar?
Joe: We have no new one we have no one!

Joe: Exact! But our sound is now more influenced by Rock again. And we moved more together. You can see that at our live performances.
I am always wondering about the people's reactions. Although you have published only that Maxi-CD yet, the acceptance of the fans is great.
Maria: That's really great and we do count your blessings. The reason might be, that we are so naturally.We try to get in contact with our fans immediately when we are on stage. I guess the people feel that we honestly do so.
It's also because of your music. You can feel, it comes from heart and it has got a soul.
Joe: Although the music changed a little bit since the Maxi-CD - because it also contains now lots of Powermetal and Rock - and it contains like you said: Soul.
That's the way, we went with the new album and you can't compare the new songs the the songs of the EP any more.
So we can await an album that sounds heavy?
Joe: It sounds heavy- but there are also very cool songs. It is very compact and versatile, so I guess the fans will like the songs. Versatileness
is very important for us, and I -personally- do not like albums that sounds similar from the beginnig to the end.
Maria: For that we are all too different in our pesonal tastes of music. And this has got an effect on the album.
Now I am really curiously about your album. It sounds really promisingly, what you told me.
Joe: I am really glad, that our album will be published at last. Because up to now there are only T-shirts available.
Is it usually not vice versa ?
Joe (laughin'): We are surely the frst band who sells first T-shirts before carry with an album.
Well, we are different.
But the T.shirts were really well sold. Now we have to wait. But you will know as soon as it is done.
